Hugo R. Steinitz, M.D.
Hugo Steinitz, M.D. has extensive experience in the field of Ophthalmology. He obtained his undergraduate education at Indiana University in Bloomington and his M.D. from the University Health Science / The Chicago Medical School. He performed his ophthalmology residency at the McPherson Hospital in Durham, North Carolina with rotations at UNC at Chapel Hill. Dr. Steinitz also completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Sydney, N.S.W., in Australia. He has worked in both private practice and for the Veterans Administration before joining Malik Eye Institute. Dr. Steinitz is certified by The American Board Of Ophthalmology and welcomes patients of all ages. He is a Fellow of The American Academy of Ophthalmology and member of the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology. His clinical interests include glaucoma, diabetes & systemic ophthalmology, eye emergencies, and the post-operative care of patients.
In his spare time, Dr. Steinitz enjoys many activities such as cycling, cross country skiing, hiking, and traveling.
