Azizur Rahman, M.D.
Harvard-trained Glaucoma Specialist
Dr. Rahman is the only fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist in Northern Illinois outside of the Chicago area.
Dr. Rahman graduated from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed residencies in internal medicine and ophthalmology from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. He completed two fellowships in ophthalmology. The first was in ophthalmic pathology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. The second was in glaucoma from Harvard Medical School in Boston. He has been on staff at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. At Vanderbilt and the Veterans Hospital in Nashville, Dr. Rahman has taught glaucoma and cataract surgery to numerous ophthalmologists in training. Dr. Rahman is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Rahman has extensive experience in opthalmology. He specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. His interests include laser treatment, including selective laser trabeculoplasty (SLT) for open angle glaucoma, laser treatment of narrow angle glaucoma, trabeculectomy surgery, ExPress mini-tube shunt surgery, and other tube shunt surgery. He also treats normal-tension glaucoma, neovascular glaucoma, and other types of glaucoma.
He is happy to collaborate with eye doctors and other physicians in performing glaucoma consultations. Dr. Rahman also practices comprehensive ophthalmology including cataract surgery and welcomes new patients.
